Curves and a couple of Solid Color Layers in Photoshop can be used to give a quick cross processing effect to any image. It is not difficult to do. It can also be done in any version of Photoshop. This is the effect to be created. The original image is below. I will be using this stock image. You will find it here It belongs to dmitroza Step 1 : Duplicate the Background Layer into Layer 1 by pressing CTRL+J. Step 2 : Click Add New Fill or Adjustment Layer button. Step 3 : Click on Curves from the pop up menu. Step 4 : The Curves 1 Layer forms. This is the Curves dialogue box. Step 5 : Click on the Blue channel from the drop down. The blue tones can be increased by modifying the the diagonal in the middle. Step 6 : Moving the top of the diagonal to the left increases the blues. Moving the diagonal up at the bottom increases the blue. The blues increases. Step 7 : Pull the diagonal up in the middle. The blues increase. Step 8 : Click on the Red channel. Step 9 : I am moving the top of the diagonal a bit to the left and the bottom slightly upwards. This is to add the red tones. The red tones are added. You can easily control how much Red or Blue to add by modifying the diagonal. There is no fixed value for it and it will vary from image to image. This is just to show it can be done. Step 10 : Click on the Solid Color Adjustment from the pop up menu. Step 11 : The Color Picker opens. Step 12 : Drag the slider in the Spectrum to the top and click on a pink shade from the panel at the left. The ‘new’ shows the shade picked. Click OK. Step 13 : Change the Blend Mode to Soft Light or Overlay. Step 14 : I am reducing the Opacity to 85{0024a325378293d44bbfde08338a1b5a5993525c3fc828ac304446c779020bb4}. The image looks like this. Step 15 : Make a second Solid Color Adjustment Layer. Step 16 : In the Color picker pick a choose a light yellow and click OK. Step 17 : Change the Blend Mode to Screen and reduce the Opacity to 35{0024a325378293d44bbfde08338a1b5a5993525c3fc828ac304446c779020bb4}. The finished image.
